February 1, 2025 - 12-3pm Theme: Spinal Waves
There is a river above the river
like the dreaming
or the breathing of the river
– Ursula Le Guin
Ursula Le Guin speaks of “the river above the river”—the energetic current flowing across the surface, the overcurrent. In yoga, the overcurrent is the outward expression of physical energy: the flow of movement between asanas, the sound of breath in our lungs. The overcurrent is like the aura of our practice – unique, ephemeral, and individual to all of us.
But beneath this river flows another current—the undercurrent. The undercurrent is a quieter, subtler energy that moves through the body on a deeper level, moving us from within. In order to tap into this river below the river, we must dive in, submerge ourselves in the hidden, the felt, the unseen. While the overcurrent is the spirit of the practice; the undercurrent is the soul.
Held on the first Saturday of the month, The Undercurrent is a playful swim into the soul of your practice. Each month will be a unique exploration of different themes and poses, breaking them down to their simplest (and therefore, most complex) forms. We will dance between both the overcurrent and the undercurrent – exploring the dynamic between the subtle body and self-expression.

February’s theme: Spinal Waves
Join us February 1st as we focus on spinal articulation, starting with cat-cow, down dog, and chaturanga-vinyasas. We'll explore the fluidity and strength of movement through each vertebra, unlocking energy and building both mobility and stability. This workshop will help you deepen your connection to the natural flow of your spine, creating a smoother, more fluid practice.
