A 4-Week Series at Yoga NW with Anne Marie Witmer
Sunday Evenings from 5:30-7:00 pm – May 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd
In-studio or livestream. Recording of classes will be made available.
Springtime ushers in the start of the natural year and the emergence of a more active, external energy. During this time we move out of the darkness of winter (the yin cycle) and into the light (yang cycle). All that has been invisible now becomes visible.
According to Chinese Medicine, the wood element is nature's predominant energy throughout spring. Wood energy is associated with new beginnings, growth and creative manifestation. When our internal wood energy is strong, we feel optimistic, productive & able to turn our ideas into actions. When weak, we may feel a lack of motivation or inspiration. When excessive we can become angry, impatient and frustrated.
During this workshop we will balance the flow of our wood energy through both hatha & yin yoga poses as well as with breath work and meditation. This full and complete practice will leave you feeling physically grounded, emotionally uplifted and creatively inspired.
Each class includes 30 minutes of hatha yoga, 30 minutes of yin yoga, and 30 minutes of breathwork, meditation and relaxation. No experience necessary.
Topics we will explore in this series include:
The meridians & organs governed by the wood element (liver & gallbladder) and how to strengthen their physical and energetic functioning.
How to stimulate wood chi to bolster our motivation to make needed changes & to turn ideas into actions.
How to balance our desire for change with patience & perseverance.
How to tame frustration & anger through the cultivation of contentment & compassion.
How to harmonize with nature to embody positive wood qualities such as optimism, trust, productivity & kindness.
Cost for in-studio sessions that meet at Yoga NW Studio: $110
Cost for livestream sessions: $89
(YNW unlimited monthly members will receive a 10% discount)
All attendees will receive access to a recording of the class.
